The serious risks you may be exposed to in this activity, and what AdventureWorks does to manage them.

AdventureWorks Ltd is a registered Adventure Activity Provider under the Health and Safety at Work (Adventure Activities) Regulations. We are legally required to disclose any serious risks that participants may face when taking part in our activities.

This information is provided prior to booking and before the activity begins so that you can make an informed decision about participation.

What Is a "Serious Risk"?

A serious risk is one that could cause:

Serious injury (e.g. fracture, spinal injury, concussion)
Hospitalisation
Permanent disability
Death

These may occur even when all practicable safety measures are in place, due to the inherent nature of the activity.

Serious Risks in Driving

Serious Risk	Description / How We Manage This Risk
Vehicle Crash	Driver error, a collision, a poor road surface or a distraction could result in serious injury or death, and travel is often the highest-risk part of an outdoor programme. Only drivers inducted, assessed and signed off by AdventureWorks carry participants, and driver licences are sighted and recorded before a driver is approved. Vehicles are serviced and hold a current WoF or CoF and registration. Drivers hold the appropriate licence for the class of vehicle, obey the road rules and drive defensively at all times.
Driver Fatigue	Driving while tired sharply increases crash risk, and instructors drive at the end of a long day in the field. Work time is calculated across the whole day, not driving hours alone. A fatigue assessment is completed with the Programme Manager where the driver is out of hours or either party thinks it warranted, and an alternative plan that does not require that person to drive is agreed where the fatigue score is above the threshold. A rest of at least 30 minutes is taken before 5½ hours of continuous duties, with a stop of 5 to 10 minutes every 60 minutes.
Conditions Beyond the Vehicle or the Driver	Ice, snow, surface water and high wind can exceed what the vehicle or the driver can handle. AdventureWorks cancels, postpones or reroutes where a weather warning affects the route. Snow chains are carried and known to fit where the route may need them, a trailer is not towed in high wind, the route is checked on at least two weather sources and a traffic source before departure, and speed is reduced with following distance increased on gravel, ice and surface water.
Vehicle Versus Person	Passengers and bystanders are struck during loading, unloading and reversing. Instructors stop and set down away from live traffic where possible, supervise passengers around the vehicle whenever it is stopped, and confirm every person is clear of the vehicle before moving off. A person outside the vehicle guides the driver when reversing in tight areas or where people are moving, and a hi-vis vest is worn for any roadside stop.
Unrestrained or Incorrectly Restrained Passenger	An unrestrained passenger in a crash is injured far more severely, and injures others. Approved child restraints are provided and fitted for participants who need them, and participants needing a restraint are identified before the programme. The vehicle does not move off until every passenger is restrained, the legal restraint standard for each age band is applied, and the vehicle's seating capacity is not exceeded.
Insecure Load or Trailer	A poorly secured load or trailer can cause a crash or injure someone during loading. Instructors supervise all loading of trailers and roof racks personally, check the load is balanced, low and secure and that the coupling, chain and lights are correct before moving off, and recheck the load and coupling at every stop. Heavy or sharp items are not carried loose in the passenger compartment, and speed is kept under 90 km/h with a longer following distance when towing.
A Participant Left Behind	A vehicle that departs without a participant leaves them alone in an unfamiliar place. The group is kept on the vehicle where a stop cannot be properly supervised. The number of passengers is known and the passenger list carried, a head count against the list is completed before every departure, a buddy system is used at stops so an absence is noticed quickly, and instructors stay with the group at stops.
A Non-compliant Private or Contracted Vehicle	A vehicle or driver outside AdventureWorks' control may not meet the standard. Expectations are agreed in writing before any private vehicle carries participants — registration, WoF, insurance, full licence, seating capacity and restraint. Evidence is obtained from a contracted operator of CoF, transport service licence, qualified drivers, and monitoring of licensing, speed and work-time compliance. Paid drivers hold a P endorsement, have passed a fit and proper person check, and are safety checked under the Children's Act 2014. Where a vehicle or driver does not meet the requirements, the group does not travel.
Natural Hazards	Participants may be affected by storms, high winds, lightning, flooding, tree falls, rockfall, landslides, tsunami or volcanic activity. These hazards can cause serious injury or death. Instructors check the Location Management Plan and the hazard registers before the activity, monitor conditions continuously, and apply pre-set trigger points. AdventureWorks will cancel, postpone, relocate or adapt an activity when a trigger point is reached rather than after. Emergency response plans include natural hazard evacuation.
Remote Medical Emergencies	A medical event such as an asthma attack, allergic reaction or cardiac incident in a remote location may delay emergency support. Instructors hold a current first aid certificate, carry an AdventureWorks first aid kit and a communication device — a PLB or satellite communicator where cellphone coverage is not assured — and know the access points and emergency routes recorded in the Location Management Plan.
Undeclared Medical Conditions, Allergies or Medication	An undisclosed condition, allergy or medication can turn a manageable situation into a serious one. AdventureWorks collects health information before every programme, instructors avoid known triggers where anaphylaxis is declared and know where personal medication is kept, and an adapted or alternative activity is offered where a condition makes the planned programme unsuitable. This control only works if conditions are declared — please tell us, including anything that has changed since you filled in the form.

Participant Responsibilities

Before taking part, you must:

Understand the risks involved in the activity
Declare any medical conditions or medications
Wear appropriate PPE and clothing
Follow all safety instructions
Notify staff if you feel unsafe or unwell at any point

车辆运送中的严重风险

严重风险	说明／我们如何管理此风险
车辆事故	驾驶失误、碰撞、路面状况不佳或注意力分散，都可能造成严重伤害或死亡；而交通往往是户外项目中风险最高的环节。只有经 AdventureWorks 引导培训、评估并核准的驾驶员才能载运参与者；驾驶员获批前，其驾照都会经过查验并登记。车辆均按期保养，并持有有效的 WoF 或 CoF 及注册登记。驾驶员持有相应车辆等级的驾照，遵守道路规则，并始终保持防御性驾驶。
驾驶员疲劳	疲劳驾驶会大幅提高事故风险，而教练往往是在野外辛劳一天之后才驾车。工时按整日计算，而非只计驾驶时数。若驾驶员已超出工时，或任何一方认为有必要，会与项目经理共同完成疲劳评估；疲劳评分超过阈值时，会商定无需该人员驾驶的替代方案。连续工作 5.5 小时前必须休息至少30 分钟，且每 60 分钟停车休息 5 至 10 分钟。
超出车辆或驾驶员应对能力的路况	结冰、积雪、路面积水和强风都可能超出车辆或驾驶员的应对能力。若天气警报影响行车路线，AdventureWorks 会取消、延期或改道。在可能需要的路线上会携带防滑链，并事先确认尺寸匹配；强风天气不牵引拖车；出发前会通过至少两个天气来源和一个路况来源核查路线；在砾石路、结冰路面和积水路段会降低车速并加大跟车距离。
车辆撞及人员	乘客和旁人在上下车、装卸和倒车过程中可能被车辆撞到。教练会尽可能在远离通行车流处停车下客；车辆停下时全程监督车辆周围的乘客；起步前确认所有人已离开车辆周围。在狭窄区域倒车或周围有人员走动时，会由一名车外人员指挥引导；任何路边停车都会穿着高可见度背心。
乘客未系安全带或约束装置使用不当	事故中未受约束的乘客伤情会严重得多，并会伤及他人。对需要儿童约束装置的参与者，我们会提供并正确安装经认证的装置；需要约束装置的参与者会在项目开始前予以确认。所有乘客未系好约束装置前，车辆不会起步；各年龄段均按法定约束标准执行；不得超出车辆核定载客人数。
货物或拖车固定不牢	固定不牢的货物或拖车可能引发事故，或在装卸时伤人。教练会亲自监督拖车和车顶架的全部装载作业；起步前会检查载荷是否均衡、重心是否够低、固定是否牢靠，以及挂钩、安全链和灯具是否正常；每次停车都会重新检查载荷和挂钩。沉重或锐利物品不得散放在乘客舱内；牵引拖车时车速保持在 90 公里/小时以下，并加大跟车距离。
参与者被遗留	车辆在参与者未上车的情况下开走，会把人独自留在陌生的地方。若某个停靠点无法妥善监护，队伍会留在车上。教练掌握乘客人数并随身携带乘客名单；每次开车前都会对照名单点名；停靠时实行结伴制度，以便迅速发现有人缺席；停靠期间教练全程与队伍在一起。
私家车或外包车辆不符合规定	不在 AdventureWorks 直接管理下的车辆或驾驶员，可能不符合标准。任何私家车载运参与者之前，都会以书面形式约定要求——注册登记、WoF、保险、完整驾照、核定载客人数和约束装置。对外包运营商，我们会索取 CoF、运输服务牌照、合格驾驶员，以及牌照、车速和工时合规监控的证明材料。有偿驾驶员须持有 P 类背书、通过适任性审查，并依《2014 年儿童法》完成安全审查。若车辆或驾驶员不符合要求，队伍不会出行。
自然灾害	参与者可能受到风暴、强风、雷电、洪水、倒树、落石、山体滑坡、海啸或火山活动的影响。这些危害可能造成严重伤害或死亡。教练会在活动前查看地点管理计划和危险登记册，持续监测环境状况，并执行预设的触发点。一旦达到触发点，AdventureWorks 会立即取消、延期、更换地点或调整活动，而不会拖延。应急响应计划包含自然灾害撤离安排。
偏远地区的医疗紧急情况	在偏远地点若发生哮喘发作、过敏反应或心脏事件等医疗状况，可能延误紧急救援。教练持有有效的急救证书，随身携带 AdventureWorks 急救包和通讯设备（在手机信号无法保证的区域会携带 PLB 或卫星通讯器），并熟悉地点管理计划中记录的进出通道和应急路线。
未申报的健康状况、过敏或用药	未申报的健康状况、过敏或用药，可能使原本可控的情况变得严重。AdventureWorks 会在每个项目开始前收集健康信息；若已申报严重过敏（过敏性休克），教练会避开已知诱因并掌握个人药物存放位置；若某项健康状况使原定项目不适合参加，我们会提供调整后的活动或替代活动。这项措施只有在您如实申报时才有效——请务必告知我们，包括填表之后出现的任何变化。

参与者责任

参加活动前，您必须：

理解活动中存在的风险
申报任何健康状况或所用药物
佩戴合适的个人防护装备并穿着适当衣物
遵守所有安全指示
如在任何时候感到不安全或不适，请立即告知工作人员
